Pakistani-Russian military practices mop-up, sniper operations

According to press releases, as per the scenario, Pakistani and Russian special forces parachuted from helicopters on unfamiliar terrain in mountainous and forested area, marched to the mock-city and attacked a building to eliminate mock terrorists.
To conduct a mop-up operation of the buildings, mixed reconnaissance groups secretly made their way into the territory of the seized facility, using weapons and communications equipment of the special operations forces (SOF) of the Pakistani ground forces.
Combat training tasks were worked out in stages with overcoming inter-floor passages, underground passages and the further release of the hostages. Thus, the servicemen of the two countries carried out a mop-up and assault operation on more than 20 buildings in the settlement.
The servicemen also worked out the technique of conducting enemy reconnaissance, classifying targets by importance, determining the distance to them. The servicemen carried out equipment and camouflage of firing positions from improvised means, using a wooded area.
Also, the servicemen provided first aid to conditionally injured as a result of the explosion and worked out their evacuation.
More than 150 servicemen of Pakistani SOF and Russian special forces company of the 49th combined arms army of the southern military district (SMD) stationed in the Stavropol territory were involved in the tactical episode.
The first stage of the exercise took place in the training centre for Pakistani armed forces’ SOF in the village of Tarbela.
Within the framework of the international exercise Friendship/Druzhba-2020, Russian snipers and the Pakistani army destroyed a mock enemy in a mountainous and wooded area.
Acting as part of mixed reconnaissance groups, they performed covert movement and camouflage exercises using service and improvised means.
Particular attention was paid to the selection and equipment of positions, the secrets of sniping, as well as the use of various observation and aiming devices.
Sniper pairs destroyed targets using special techniques.
The servicemen also worked out the technique of conducting enemy reconnaissance, classifying targets by importance, determining the distance to them.
During the event, snipers from Pakistan and Russia exchanged experience in adjustment telescopic sights and shooting from the Remington 700 and M24 sniper rifles in service with Pakistan.
The firing of weapons was carried out at targets imitating the manpower of a mock enemy at a range from 100 to 600 metres.
Joint training of snipers took place within the framework of the joint Pakistani-Russian military exercise Friendship-2020.
For the first time, Russian military personnel performed combat training tasks using weapons, equipment and communications equipment of Pakistani army.
The purpose of the joint exercise is to strengthen and develop military cooperation between the armed forces of Pakistan and Russia.
The training will last till November 19.
