PM Khan allows PAI under green Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: The adviser to the prime minister for climate change (A-PM-CC) Malik Amin Aslam called on prime minister (PM) Imran Khan, Monday, whereat PM Khan gave the go-ahead direction for the launch of protected area initiative (PAI) under the green Pakistan programme.

According to an official statement, the meeting was in continuation of the green stimulus package approved by the PM recently in April, 2020, wherein 65,000 youth / daily wagers will be utilised for plantation across the country who are facing unemployment in wake of COVID-19 (coronavirus).

During the meeting, the PM accorded go-ahead for launching PAI in the country under the umbrella of green Pakistan programme.

It will involve the establishment of 12 national parks in the country with the aim to preserve and protect wildlife and plantations.

PM Khan directed that all the provinces be taken on-board for this initiative at the highest level that is (i.e.) the chief ministers.

He further emphasised that such initiatives provide employment opportunities in wake of COVID-19 pandemic while at the same time protect the natural resources of the country.

PM Khan will launch the PAI soon after climate change ministry completes the process of stake-holders consultation.
