ISLAMABAD: The education and professional training (EPT) minister Shafqat Mahmood received, Tuesday, a cheque of Rs 11 million for prime minster’s corona relief fund (PM-CRF) from the federal government educational institutions — cantonments/garrisons (FGEI-C/G).

According to an official statement, the FGEI-C/G director general (DG) major general Muhammad Asghar donated the cheque.

The amount was collected by the FGEI-C/G employees to support the dignified cause of the government for helping poor segments of the society in this need of the hour.

EPT minister Mahmood acknowledged the valuable efforts of FGEI-C/G for the country and the nation and stated that the relationship between the education ministry and FGEI-C/G will further strengthen and added that they will learn from the experiences of each other and keep sharing the good practices in future as well.

He noted that there is an intense pressure from private schools and religious seminaries for re-opening of schools and madrassas. So keeping in view the emerging situation, EPT minister Mahmood has advised to convene the inter-provincial education ministers conference, mainly to discuss this agenda on July 2, 2020, and to prepare the recommendations for the next national coordination committee (NCC) meeting.
