Sopore in IOK mourns martyred Muzaffar Ahmed Naikoo KMS Sunday - January 8, 2017 SRINAGAR (Indian Occupied Kashmir): In Indian Occupied Kashmir (IOK), complete shutdown was observed in Sopore town, on Saturday, to mourn the martyring of a youth, Muzaffar Ahmed Naikoo; Kashmir Media Service (KMS) reported. Muzaffar Ahmed Naikoo was martyred by Indian troops during a siege and search operation in Machwa area of Badgam district, on late Thursday night. All shops and business establishments in the town remained closed while public transport was off the road. All Parties Hurriyet Conference (APHC) chairman Syed Ali Gilani, in a statement in Srinagar paid glorious tributes to the martyred youth. He said that the Kashmiri youth were writing a history with their blood and the Kashmiris would protect and honour each drop of the blood of their martyrs, as it was a moral binding on them to do so to get rid of India’s forcible occupation. Hurriyet leaders, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Yasmeen Raja, Muhammad Yousuf Naqash, Ghulam Muhammad Khan Sopori, and Farooq Ahmed Dar in their statements paying homage to Muzaffar Ahmed Naikoo said that the Kashmiri youth were sacrificing their lives for a sacred cause of freedom from Indian bondage. On the other hand, the APHC in a statement termed as ridiculous the assertion of a senior Indian army officer, Lieutenant General Subrata Saha, wherein he stated that freedom struggle in Kashmir was shifting from freedom to the radicalisation. It said that India was trying to malign the Kashmiris’ just struggle for securing their inalienable right to self-determination. Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik, and the spokesman of Tehreek-e-Hurriyet Jammu and Kashmir in their statements strongly denounced the re-arrest of Hurriyet leaders including Noor Muhammad Kalwal, Ayaz Akbar and Sarjan Barkati after courts quashed their illegal detention. Hurriyet leaders including Zafar Akbar Butt, Javaid Ahmed Mir and Mukhtar Ahmed Waza visited different areas of the occupied territory, today, and expressed solidarity with the families of martyrs and victims of pellets. Meanwhile, the Kashmir Valley (IOK) remained cut off from the rest of the world for second day, on Saturday, due to heavy snowfall in many areas over the past four days. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
