Railway Minister says “luggage scanners” to secure railways Staff Report Thursday - February 23, 2017 ISLAMABAD: Railway Minister Khwaja Saad Rafique, in a statement on Wednesday, announced that with having installed luggage scanner machines at 11 major railway stations including those at Lahore, Karachi, Peshawar and Quetta, will raise the sense of security when travelling by train. According to detail, installation of luggage-scanning machines at major railway stations has been intensified on the instructions of Railway Minister Saad. “Two luggage scanners” have begun scanning passenger luggages at Rawalpindi railway station to check against possible explosive material. While, another luggage scanner had been installed at the cargo terminal. “After going through the scanner, the luggage would have a security-clearance tag” adding “The basic aim is to provide safe and sound atmosphere to the passengers,” the statement asserted. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
