Turkish FM Çavuşoğlu visits Kuwait

ANKARA (Turkey): The Turkish foreign minister (FM) Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu visited Kuwait, Tuesday, the first stop of his visits to the Gulf, and discussed all aspects of Turkey-Kuwait bilateral relations and also exchanged views on international issues.

According to a press release, at first, Turkish FM was received by Emir Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah of Kuwait and conveyed him the greetings and best wishes of Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

Turkish FM Çavuşoğlu expressed that there is a positive environment in Gulf thanks to Kuwait’s mediation, and that Turkey congratulates Kuwait for its successful diplomatic efforts.

On the same day, he met with the crown prince Sheikh Mishaal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah of Kuwait.

Turkish FM Çavuşoğlu noted that Turkey wishes a strong, unified and stable Gulf region, that Turkey will continue to work with the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), and that Turkey will increase the cooperation in the fields of health and economy.

Later that day, he was received by the prime minister (PM) of Kuwait, Sheikh Sabah Al-Khalid Al-Sabah.

Turkish FM Çavuşoğlu stated that Turkey wishes to work closely with the newly formed cabinet, that Turkey maintains the bilateral trade volume despite the pandemic and that Turkey is pleased that Turkish construction companies undertook important projects in Kuwait.

Later, he met with speaker Marzouq Ali Mohammed Al-Ghanim of the national assembly (NA) of Kuwait, congratulated him on his re-election and conveyed him the greetings of speaker Mustafa Şentop of the grand NA (GNA) of Turkey.

Turkish FM Çavuşoğlu underlined that Kuwait has an exemplary parliamentary tradition and that Turkey attaches importance to inter-parliamentary relations.

Finally, he had a meeting with Kuwaiti FM Sheikh Ahmed Nasser Al-Mohammed Al-Sabah to discuss all aspects of bilateral relations.

Turkish FM Çavuşoğlu emphasised on the latest developments in Iraq, Syria and Libya and that Turkey will advance the cooperation with Kuwait in all fields including defence, health, culture and education.
