Sino-Pak to accelerate transfer of prisoners’ treaty

ISLAMABAD: A statement on Saturday confirmed that both China and Pakistan, during their 8th round of consular consultations on Thursday decided that both, will further extend facilitation in the implementation of a treaty on the “transfer of sentenced persons” – signed during the visit of prime minister (PM) Imran Khan to China in November 2018.

According to detail, the consultations were held in a cordial and cooperative atmosphere.

The two sides discussed the entire range of consular issues and reiterated their resolve to further extend facilitation in all areas including the visa and immigration; consular matters and prisoner’s issues.

The consultations were held in the federal capital, wherein the Chinese delegation was led by deputy director general Tong Defa while the Pakistani side was led by director general China Ayesha Ali.

The next round of Pakistan-China consular consultations will be held in 2020 at Beijing.
