Sadiq calls Russia our strategic partner

According to detail, while talking with his Russian counterpart, he said that Pakistan considers Russia a valuable friend, who has been a partner in economic and infrastructure developments in Pakistan.
Sadiq said that constant engagement from either side has added depth to the existing relations. “Pakistan and Russia not only share the same continent but also the same values of democracy and human freedom, therefore, both the nations need to take their bilateral relation to newer heights,” NA speaker added.
He said that Pakistan values its relations with Russia and wants to diversify them through parliamentary, people-to-people and economic ties.
Sadiq said that joint efforts by the both countries are needed for regional peace and progress. The menace of terrorism has been impeding the collective progress of this region and it can be overcome through an exchange of knowledge, expertise and experiences, he added.
NA speaker said that illicit drug trade has largely remained unchecked and throbbed as the major source of terror financing. He underlined the need for collective efforts to control poppy cultivation and drug trafficking in the region.
Volodin congratulated Sadiq on holding a conference in Pakistan devoted to connectivity and to fight against terrorism with the participation of Iran, China, Turkey, Pakistan and Afghanistan.
He also appreciated the best arrangements made in connection with speakers’ conference.
Russian state duma chairman Volodin agreed that Pakistan-Russia cooperation is highly central for tackling regional challenges including terrorism, drug trafficking and regional stability.
He added that the drug trafficking was a major threat and needed joint efforts in this regard to save the future of our coming generations. Volodin said that Russia attaches immense importance to its relations with Pakistan and assured that Russia is ready to assist Pakistan in diverse fields including agriculture, manufacturing, infrastructure, defense and education.
Russian state duma chairman Volodin underlined the need for diversification of bilateral relations and effective collaboration on various international forums.
He informed that Russian legislature also is keen to cement its ties with parliament of Pakistan and thanked Sadiq for the warm welcome and pleasurable hospitality extended to him and his delegation during their stay in the federal capital.
The convener of Pak-Russia friendship group in NA Marvi Memon was also present on the occasion.
