SAPM-OPHRD appreciates RD commissioner Mahmood on GACP project

ISLAMABAD: The special assistant to prime minister (SAPM) for overseas Pakistanis and human resource development (SAPM-OPHRD) Zulfiqar Abbas Bukhari said, Wednesday, that promotion of healthy activities in developing countries is imperative.

According to a press release, he said this while talking on the occasion of the inauguration of Global Active Cities Pakistan (GACP) project in the Rawalpindi Division (RD).

SAPM-OPHRD Bukhari appreciated RD commissioner captain (retired) Muhammad Mahmood for having set an example, for the entire country, by launching the GACP project and held that it is an honour, for the country, that three districts of RD have become part of the international framework under which sports and healthy lifestyle will be promoted in the society.


He said that under the GACP project, sports will be promoted in RD and people will be encouraged towards healthy living.

Renowned cricketer Shoaib Akhtar mentioned that RD commissioner Mahmood is an officer who likes sports and a healthy lifestyle and that he is the first commissioner of Rawalpindi who invited him in the commissioner’s office to get him exercised.

He said that he used to walk from Dhok Kala Khan to Kachehri Chowk and when the situation improved to some extent, he used to ride a bicycle and that this is the physical exertion that has been working for a lifetime.

RD commissioner Mahmood said that with the help of GACP project efforts are underway to introduce a culture that promotes a healthy lifestyle in the society.

He added that there are many playgrounds in Rawalpindi and that they will now be further improved and equipped with wider facilities under the project.

Later, RD commissioner Mahmood took pictures with the officers and staff of the commissioner’s office.

The Covid-19 (coronavirus) standard operating procedures (SOPs) were strictly observed.

On the occasion all the guests participated in the fitness session.

The deputy commissioners of Rawalpindi, Attock and Chakwal, divisional administration officers (DAOs) and officials were also present on the occasion.
