Russian troops in 2021 to participate in 10 international exercises

MOSCOW (Russia): During the upcoming bilateral planning conferences, representatives of the command of the southern military district (SMD) will discuss the dates and locations of joint exercises with units of the armed forces of Abkhazia, Armenia, Algeria, Egypt, India, Kazakhstan, Pakistan, Turkey and South Ossetia.

According to a press release on Tuesday, the combat training plan for the troops of the SMD in 2021 provides for participation in 10 international exercises.

This year, the military personnel of the SMD took part in the joint Russian-Pakistani exercise Friendship 2020, the joint Russian-Egyptian naval exercise Bridge of Friendship 2020.

In addition, this year, a special exercise was held on the territory of the SMD with the forces and means of the CSS of the troops of the collective forces of the CSTO Echelon-2020, during which Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Russia took part.

The most ambitious event of international military-technical cooperation was the strategic command-staff exercise Kavkaz-2020, during which the military personnel of the SMD acted confidently and effectively as part of a coalition grouping of troops of the People’s Republic of China, Pakistan, Belarus, Armenia and Myanmar.

As part of the largest manoeuvres in the Caspian Sea, the crews of the ships of the Caspian Flotilla and the Islamic Republic of Iran performed joint tasks.

Also, during the year, units of the Russian military bases of the SMD conducted a number of joint exercises with units of the armed forces of the republics on whose territory they are deployed - in Abkhazia, Armenia and South Ossetia.
