Russian SMD men practices sniping from moving cars

MOSCOW (Russia): For the first time, Monday, about 1,000 snipers of the Russian southern military district (SMD) practiced the destruction of air targets from moving cars.

According to a press release, the best snipers of the formations and military units of the SMD have started the first qualifying stage of the competition, in which they will fight for the right to represent the district in the sniper pair competition Sniper Frontier.

For the first time, sniper pairs practiced hitting aerodynamic targets flying at a speed of about 60 kilometres per hour (km/h), as well as firing from the back of a moving truck.

In addition, snipers will have to demonstrate their skills in shooting from a Makarov pistol and a Dragunov sniper rifle.

During the firing competition, sniper pairs will perform reconnaissance of targets and determine the range to them, conduct aimed fire at distances from 500 to 1,300 metres in various conditions, day and night, as well as correct fire using observation and aiming devices.

In total, about 1,000 servicemen from sniper units of the SMD will take part in the qualifying events during the week.
