Russia emphasises US bullying

Wednesday, 20 December 2017According to detail, on December 18, the UN security council voted on a draft resolution proposed by Egypt on behalf of the “Arab group.”
The draft resolution affirms that any decision and action which purport to have altered the character, status or demographic composition of holy city of Jerusalem have no legal effect, and calls upon all States to refrain from the establishment of diplomatic missions in the holy city of Jerusalem, pursuant to resolution 478 (1980) of the UN security council.
UN security council failed to adopt the resolution after the US delegation voted against it using its veto power, whereas all other members of the council voted in favour.
By submitting the draft resolution, the Arab states sought to respond to the decision announced by US president Donald Trump to recognise Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and instruct the department of state to work on moving the US embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.
The decision was criticised not only by Arab and Muslim countries, but around the world, and has resulted in an escalation of tensions in the West Bank and Gaza.
