ISLAMABAD: “Contrary to the claims of United States (US) for its efforts against terrorism, the declaration by US president Donald Trump to shift US embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem has fuelled to a newer wave of terrorism” lashing “Organisation of Islamic cooperation (OIC) too has miserably failed to take any tangible step and become a collective voice of the Muslim world,” senate chairman Raza Rabbani mentioned in his meeting with Palestinian envoy Walid Ahmad Mehmood Abu Ali on Monday; an official statement said.

He said that Palestine and Kashmir are the oldest disputes on the agenda of the united nations (UN) security council to which the world community has turned a blind eye.

Rabbani said that the decision of US president Trump is unfortunate and will give rise to new intifada in the occupied region.

He apprised the Palestinian ambassador that the senate after 5 hours discussion passed a resolution condemning the US move and the session was adjourned without taking any further business, as a mark of solidarity with the people of Palestine.

Rabbani said that he was disappointed with the outcome of the OIC extraordinary summit, as it was being expected that concrete steps will be taken. He grieved that over the years, resolutions and condemnations have been coming out of OIC, but no tangible measures have yet been adopted.

Rabbani said that people of Pakistan stand in solidarity with the people of Palestine and will continue to extend moral and diplomatic support for the Palestinian cause.

Abu Ali thanked Rabbani, government of Pakistan and its people for their continued support to the Palestinian cause, especially in wake of the recent development.
