Qatari air chief wants enhanced defence cooperation

ISLAMABAD: The president Arif Alvi said, Wednesday, Pakistan and Qatar have a great scope for cooperation in areas of defence and military training and that Qatar needs to benefit from the defence expertise and training facilities in Pakistan.

According to a press release, he made these remarks while talking to the visiting Qatar Emiri Air Force (QEAF) commander (C) major general (Maj.Gen) Salem bin Hamad al Nabet, who called on him at Aiwan-e-Sadr, in the federal capital.

President Alvi also highlighted the anti-terrorism efforts made by Pakistan that resulted in defeating militancy and terrorism countrywide.

QEAF-C Maj.Gen Hamad al Nabet appreciated the professionalism of the armed forces of Pakistan and underlined the need for enhanced defence cooperation between the two countries.

President Alvi said that Pakistan and Qatar enjoy excellent relations in all areas of mutual interest and held that Pakistan wants to further strengthen and broaden the bilateral cooperation.

He said that Pakistan’s economy was improving despite the Covid-19 (coronavirus) pandemic.

President Alvi said that Pakistan offers enormous investment opportunities and that Qatar can benefit from Pakistan’s investment-friendly environment in various sectors.

The meeting was also attended by the chief of air staff (CAS) air chief marshal (Air.Chf.Mshl) Mujahid Anwar Khan and Qatar’s ambassador to Pakistan Saoud Abdulrehman Al-Thani.
