President wants ulema to raise awareness on nutrition

LAHORE: The president Arif Alvi suggested, Monday, that ulema ought to be engaged to create awareness on issues like breastfeeding, nutrition, maternal nutrition and related matters.

According to a press release, he delivered his remarks while presiding over a meeting of population welfare at governor house in Punjab’s capital city.

President Alvi reminded that it is highly important to identify needs and resources to achieve desired goals in any field.

He said that media can play a vibrant role in spreading the message to control high growth of population, appreciated that during COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic the media effectively created awareness regarding adopting precautionary measures to stay safe.

President Alvi urged that while taking population growth issue at hand all related aspects should be taken along, instead of focusing on one particular matter.

The president was briefed on population welfare and key initiatives in the meeting.

During the meeting various suggestions were given for effective implementation of ideas aimed to control the growing population.

The Punjab governor Chaudhry Mohammad Sarwar, Punjab chief minister (CM) Sardar Usman Buzdar, Punjab population welfare minister (P-PWM) Muhamad Hashim Dogar, Punjab health minister (P-HM) Yasmin Rashid, special assistant to prime minister (SAPM) Faisal Sultan and others were present in the meeting.
