Planting of 10 billion trees expected by 2023

ISLAMABAD: The prime minister (PM) Imran Khan was briefed, Thursday, that during the incumbent regime, the 10 billion trees tsunami campaign has so far completed the planting of trees on an area of ​​1,000 acres and that the entire process is expected to be completed by the year 2023 on an area of ​​two and a half thousand acres.

According to a press release, the PM chaired a meeting on forest protection and restoration in Punjab province in the federal capital.

PM Khan received a briefing on steps taken for rehabilitation of Changa Manga and other forests.

In the last few years, 2,500 acres of Changa Manga have been made barren by depriving it of trees.

PM Khan said that the forests and afforestation play a key role in mitigating environmental pollution and that protecting forests is part of the incumbent regime’s priorities.

He issued directive of utilising technology for forest conservation and restoration.

PM Khan in addition also directed to formulate and present integrated policy for rehabilitation of forests throughout the Punjab province and ensure systematic measures to curb poaching and deforestation.

The meeting was attended by special assistant to PM on climate change (SAPM-CC) Malik Amin Aslam, Punjab forests minister Sabtin Khan and others.
