PYONGYANG (Democratic People’s Republic of Korea): The Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) on Sunday disclosed that Pakistani consortiums including the Pakistan-Korea Friendship Association (PKFA) secretary general Javed Ansari - representing the Karachi branch, Pakistan Committee for Supporting Korea’s Reunification (PCSKR) chairperson, Pakistan Association for Self-Reliance Studies (PASRS) chairman and a senator made public a joint statement on May 6 to congratulate Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) supreme leader Kim Jong Un’s successful talks with the Russian president Vladimir Putin.

According to KCNA, the Pakistani statement said that Kim’s visit to Russia drew tremendous response from the whole world.

It pointed out that the DPRK has made big successes in foreign relations thanks to Kim’s outstanding diplomatic strategy and energetic foreign activities.

It said that his Russia visit was an important occasion in putting the historic relations of friendship and cooperation between the peoples of both countries on to a new high level.

The world admires the great traits of Kim, who possesses rare wisdom and insight, the statement noted.

The DPRK will shine more brilliantly as the great country, the statement concluded.

Earlier on April 26, the KCNA reported Kim’s meeting with Russian president Vladimir Putin on April 25, in Russia, whereat Kim mourned that the situation on the Korean peninsula and the region has arrived at a ‘standstill’ and has reached a critical point where it may go back to its previous state as the United States (US) took a unilateral attitude in “bad faith” at the recent second DPRK-US summit talks.

Kim appreciated Russian efforts in strategically controlling the unstable situation of the Korean peninsula in the wake of the second DPRK-US summit talks.

Voicing Russia's willingness to continue mutual cooperation to defuse tension on the Korean peninsula and strengthen security in Northeast Asia as a whole, Russian president Putin expressed his conviction that the goal of ensuring lasting peace and stability and achieving prosperity on the peninsula and in the region will certainly be attained by the active involvement of the international community and all the countries concerned.

Kim-Putin analysed and assessed the trend of the situation on the Korean peninsula that has faced a crucial moment and had an in-depth discussion on the ways for the two countries to promote the strategic communication and tactical collaboration in the course of ensuring peace and security on the Korean peninsula and in the region.

Kim noted that the peoples of the two countries were firmly linked together with the feelings of comrades-in-arms in the joint struggle for the great anti-Japanese war in the last century, and that the officers and men of the Red Army devoted their warm blood to the liberation of Korea.

DPRK supreme leader said the Korean people have not forgotten the noble internationalist exploits of the sons and daughters of the Russian people who unsparingly laid down their precious lives for the sacred cause of the liberation of Korea.

Kim-Putin had a discussion on boosting high-level visits including top-level meeting and contact and developing cooperation, exchange and collaboration between the governments, parliaments, regions and organisations of the two countries in various forms.

Both sides agreed to take positive measures in several fields in order to further energise the work of the DPRK-Russia intergovernmental committee for cooperation in trade, economy, science and technology and put the equally beneficial economic and trade relations between the two countries on a higher stage.
