Pakistan-Turkey further solidifies defence production

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and Turkey during the 15th round of high level military dialogue group (HLMDG) meeting discussed, Thursday, all avenues of mutual cooperation in military training, education, counter terrorism, defence industry cooperation including joint production and procurement.

According to a press release, defence secretary lieutenant general (Lt.Gen.) retired (R) Mian Muhammad Hilal Hussain along-with his delegation visited Turkey from December 20 to 24.

The meeting took stock of progress made since last HLMDG meeting held in Pakistan in April last year.

Pakistan and Turkey reaffirmed the resolve to further strengthen defence cooperation.

Both sides shared perspectives on prevailing regional environment including the Middle East, South Asia and Afghanistan.

During the meetings, both sides discussed matters of mutual interest, particularly in defence and training cooperation.

It was agreed that cooperation between Pakistan and Turkey in all spheres of interest shall continue for the benefit of both brotherly countries.

In concluding session, both sides agreed HLMDG achieved the objectives and the next meeting will be convened in Pakistan on mutually convenient dates in 2021.

The HLMDG is the highest level of institutional mechanism between Pakistan and Turkey, mandated to charter policies and action plans to promote ties in defence field.
