Pakistan-China signs MoU for enhancement of defence cooperation

RAWALPINDI: China’s defence minister (DM) general Wei Fenghe acknowledged and appreciated, Monday, Pakistan army’s sincere efforts for regional peace and provision of secure environment for China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) projects.

According to an Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) press release, Chinese DM general Fenghe met with the chief of army staff (COAS) general Qamar Javed Bajwa, at general headquarters (GHQ), in the garrison city.

Both the time-tested friendly countries signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for enhancement of defence cooperation between both the armies.

COAS general Bajwa thanked Chinese DM general Fenghe for China’s unwavering support to Pakistan on all key issues at regional and international forums.

He said that Pakistan army greatly values the time-tested and brotherly relations with China.

We have been standing together all along and our relations will be no different in wake of future challenges, COAS general Bajwa reiterated.

During the meeting, matters of mutual interest, regional security and enhanced bilateral defence collaboration were discussed.

Earlier on arrival at GHQ, Chinese DM general Fenghe laid a floral wreath at the monument of martyrs.

A smartly turned out contingent of Pakistan army presented the guard of honour to visiting dignitary.
