Pak supports China’s stance on Hong Kong

ISLAMABAD: “India is creating trouble on China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and her belligerent attitude poses threat to regional peace and stability,” president Arif Alvi mentioned to Chinese ambassador Yao Jing, on Thursday.

According to an official statement, the Chinese ambassador Jing called on president Alvi in the federal capital.

President Alvi said that Pakistan highly values its relationship with China and appreciated the fact that China has always stood by Pakistan in difficult times.

He assured that Pakistan will continue to support one-China policy and stand by China on core issues of Chinese national interest, including Hong Kong, Tibet and Taiwan.

Chinese ambassador Jing thanked the government of Pakistan (GoP) for supporting his country’s stance on Hong Kong and other issues of Chinese national interests.

He said that the Chinese leadership and the people appreciated the encouraging role of president Alvi especially when during the COVID-19 (coronavirus) crisis outbreak president Alvi became the first foreign head of state to land in China and extend a supporting hand.

Chinese ambassador Jing also delivered a message of felicitation from Chinese president Xi Jinping on his forthcoming birthday.

President Alvi emphasised that both countries needed to further enhance cooperation in the areas of information technology (IT), economy and defence.

The meeting stressed the need to further deepen and expand strategic cooperation in view of emerging regional environment.

It was agreed to work together for promotion of regional peace and stability.

The president expressed his gratitude to China for her support during coronavirus pandemic as well as in the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) against India’s illegal unilateral steps in India occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IOJK).
