PTI announces demonstration in Waziristan

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan tehreek-e-insaf (PTI) announced to stage demonstrations/jalsas in Waziristan and Karachi on May 11th and 12th respectively, on Friday, PTI information secretary Fawad Choudhary expressed solidarity with the tribal people maintaining that his party has repeatedly voiced for the constitutional rights of tribal brethren and much needed merger of federally administered tribal areas (FATA) into Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).

According to an official statement, an important meeting of PTI’s core group was held on Friday headed by PTI chairman Imran Khan.

Choudhary, while addressing media afterwards, lashing out at jamiat ulema-e-Islam - Fazal (JUI-F) leader Fazal-ur-Rehman and pukhtoonkhwa milli awami party (PMAP) leader Mehmood Khan Achakzai, stated that they played with the future of tribal people by denying their rights in order to achieve their petty goals.

He informed the journalists that during the core group meeting, KP chief minister (CM) Pervaiz Khattak briefed the members about the ongoing talks between pashtun tahafuz movement (PTM) activists and an 11 members jirga.

Choudhary stated that PTI welcomes the decision of merger of FATA and expressed hope in local bodies election that are to be held this year and assumed that PTI will emerge as the true representative of tribal people.

Speaking about PTI’s jalsa at Karachi which is scheduled to be held on May 12th, he said that PTI kicked off its campaign for upcoming general elections from Lahore. Karachi jalsa will also be an eye opener for the opponents.

Pakistan peoples’ party (PPP) leader Asif Ali Zardari and likes, he said, have deteriorated political, economical and administrative structure of the province. “PTI under the leadership of Khan with its 11 points agenda will change the course of politics in upcoming elections,” Choudhary said.

Talking about the interim setup PTI information secretary stated that the procedure to install caretaker setup should be transparent. “All stakeholders must be taken on board regarding the interim setup,” he stressed.

“PTI strongly supports timely general elections and won’t accept any delay in this regard,” Choudhary marked.

Commenting on the selection of candidature for upcoming general elections, he stated that PTI has so far received 20,847 applications from across the country. He said that in the pressure from public PTI decides to extend the date for filing nominations till May 13th. He said that PTI has also sought applications for the reserved and minority seats.

Making trenchant remarks on Pakistan Muslim league - Nawaz (PML-N) leader Nawaz Sharif, Choudhary stated that he has no competition with anyone because he is destined to go to jail for plundering the country.

Meanwhile, PTI grabbed yet another wicket of the PPP as Asad Gulzar, PPP’s candidate for NA-04, has parted ways with the party and announced to join PTI on Friday.

PPP’s candidate for NA-04 Gulzar called on PTI chairman Khan on Friday and announced to join PTI. Gulzar, son of late PTI member of national assembly (MNA) Gulzar Khan, expressed full confidence on the leadership of Khan and pinned all his hopes on PTI in order to bring change. Khan warmly welcomed Gulzar into PTI’s manifold.
