PM says mechanism during first wave was effective

ISLAMABAD: The prime minister (PM) Imran Khan said, Monday, Pakistan demonstrated to the world an effective followable mechanism, coupled with timely decisions, to overcome the first wave of Covid-19 (coronavirus) pandemic, stressed the need to exercise again seriousness, balance and carefulness.

According to a press release, a high level session, chaired by PM Khan, reviewed the collective countrywide Covid-19 situation.

The meeting was briefed about decisions taken by the national command and operation centre (NCOC).

The PM was informed regarding the spread of Covid-19 and related aspects, loss of innocent lives as a result of pandemic and capacity of hospitals.

He directed to take all necessary steps to tackle the spread of Covid-19 and also to ensure that the lives of ordinary citizens are protected.

PM Khan directed to convene a session of the national coordination committee (NCC) on Covid-19 to ensure viable consultancy prior to decisions on various Covid-19 related aspects.

The federal ministers Makhdum Khusro Bakhtiar, Shahqat Mahmood, Hammad Azhar, Aejaz Shah, Asad Umar, senator Shibli Faraz, special assistants to prime minister (SAPM) Sania Nishtar, Faisal Sultan, advisor to prime minister Abdul Razzaq Dawood, minister of state Ali Muhammad Khan participated in the meeting.
