Japan seeks counter terrorism cooperation: Kono

RAWALPINDI: Japanese foreign minister Taro Kono called on chief of army staff (COAS) general Qamar Javed Bajwa, in the garrison city on Thursday, whereat Kono said that Japan looks forward to enhance its security cooperation with Pakistan especially in the field of counter terrorism; an inter services public relations (ISPR) statement said.

According to detail, Kono informed about Japanese assistance for rehabilitation of temporary displaced persons (TDPs) and provision of scanning equipment for border crossing points.

He was given briefing on Pakistan’s war on terror and contributions towards regional peace.

Kono appreciated and acknowledged Pakistan’s efforts towards regional peace and stability.

COAS Bajwa thanked Japanese foreign minister Kono for his visit, acknowledgment of Pakistan’s efforts towards regional peace and assistance in counter terrorism domain.

The visiting dignitary was presented guard of honour and he laid floral wreath at martyrs’ monument.
