Japan offers support to PTV, PBC

ISLAMABAD: The ambassador of Japan, to Pakistan, Kuninori Matsuda offered to extend support, Wednesday, to Pakistan Television Corporation (PTV) and Pakistan Broadcasting Corporation (PBC) for broadening and improving the quality of their programmes.

According to a press release, the Japanese envoy called on the special assistant to prime minister (SAPM) on information (SAPM-I) Raoof Hasan at information and broadcasting ministry in the federal capital.

The representatives of PTV and PBC explained to Japanese ambassador Matsuda the areas where support and assistance was specifically solicited.

There will be a follow-up meeting between representatives of the ministry, PTV and PBC with the Japanese embassy to take the matter further.


They discussed matters relating to mutual cooperation between the two countries.

Bilateral relations between Pakistan and Japan and the history of mutual cooperation in promotion of culture and tourism, trade and investment between the two countries came under discussion.

More specifically, avenues regarding promotion of relations in the fields of media, culture and tourism and training of personnel of media organisations were discussed.

SAPM-I Hassan appreciated the cooperation of Japan with Pakistan in different fields especially in health, education, culture and tourism.

Mutual cooperation and understanding between the media organisations of the two countries to promote culture of Japan and Pakistan was discussed.

They also discussed the cooperation between state-owned media organisations of the two countries.


Japanse ambassador Matsuda highlighted the importance of media and its deep effects on the society.

SAPM-I Hassan cited enormous opportunities’ existence for expanding mutual cooperation between the two countries in the fields of media, culture and tourism.

PBC director general (DG) and PTV director were present in the meeting.
