JERUSALEM (Israel): Israeli president Reuven Rivlin thanked Egyptian president Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi and the Egyptian government for its commitment and activity in Gaza, and said, “We need to continue to work together to resolve the humanitarian situation in Gaza, in a way that will bring our soldiers, who are being held by Hamas, home” asserting “This is our moral obligation.”

According to a press release, Israeli president Rivlin held a working meeting with Egyptian petroleum and mineral resources minister (PMRM) Tarek El-Molla, who is on a visit to Israel.

Israeli president Rivlin thanked the Egyptian government for its commitment and activity in Gaza and spoke about the flourishing cooperation between the countries in the energy sector and the importance of relations between the two peoples.

He urged for expanding the Israeli-Egyptian cooperation to additional fields and noted the importance of relations between the two peoples, saying, “It is time for our businesses, our people and our younger generation to meet each other.”

Israeli president Rivlin concluded, “Relations can flourish and benefit us all if our peoples truly get to know each other, not just cooperation between governments.”

He welcomed Egyptian PMRM El-Molla to Jerusalem and said the timing of his visit is important as more and more Arab countries are joining the path of peace and normalisation that started over 40 years ago with the signing of the Israel-Egypt peace treaty.
