Indofood to establish manufacturing facility

ISLAMABAD: Indonesian ambassador to Pakistan Adam M. Tugio said businessmen in his country are interested to invest in food business in Pakistan, Thursday, Indofood — a major Indonesian company involved in food industry — is soon lunching its operations in Pakistan.

According to a press release, the Indonesian envoy called on board of investment (BoI) chairman Atif R. Bokhari in federal capital.

BoI chairman Bokhari appreciated the proposition and said BoI will extend all possible assistance and facilitation to materialise Indofood endeavours in Pakistan.

He added Indofood in addition to the manufacturing facility in Pakistan can also export to African countries.

Indonesian ambassador Tugio appreciated efforts of BoI in the prospective of ease of doing business (EoDB) and commended Pakistani information technology (IT) sector for having highly qualified professionals.

BoI chairman Bokhari offered Indonesian companies to open branch offices in Pakistan and utilise their expertise.

Tourism sector was also a part of discussion and both sides agreed on mutual collaborations.

BoI chairman Bokhari appreciated proposition to establish dialogue between business communities of both countries to identify areas for bilateral trade.

He added BoI will continue to work for expanding Pakistan-Indonesia economic partnership.

BoI chairman Bokhari said Pakistani embassy in Indonesia has proposed a webinar in the current month for which BoI will also collaborate.

BoI secretary Fareena Mazhar appreciated Indonesian ambassador’s friendly gesture towards Pakistan and invited Indonesian businessmen to invest in Pakistan in different sectors of the economy.

She said the government of Pakistan (GoP) has taken a number of initiatives to attract foreign investment and BoI being the apex body of GoP for investment promotion and facilitation to foreign investors assure them full support as and when needed.
