Incorporate wind, solar and hydel energy generation: Abbasi

ISLAMABAD: Prime minister (PM) Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, on Tuesday, chaired a meeting of cabinet committee on energy and pondered over worn-out policies, including power co-generation by sugar industry and the renewable energy policy 2006, and reviewed various power sector development projects, which are being set up to diversify the existing energy mix of the country by including wind, solar and hydel power projects; an official statement said.

It was decided to introduce suitable amendments in the existing policy framework in order to address various issues relating to power tariff.

Power minister Sardar Awais Leghari will a hold press briefing today regarding the policy decisions taken during the meeting.

Leghari, petroleum minister Jam Kamal Khan, secretaries of concerned divisions, Pakistan state oil (PSO) managing director and senior officials attended the meeting.
