In consultation with provinces on five years’ plan: Aziz

ISLAMABAD: Planning commission (PC) deputy chairman Sartaj Aziz chaired the third meeting of the steering committee for the formulation of 12th five years’ plan, on Tuesday, whereat he noted that PC is working on the formulation of the plan in consultations with the provinces, as after the 18th constitutional amendment various subjects have been devolved to provinces; an official statement said.

According to detail, he added, “12th five years’ plan will serve as an umbrella and coordinate the progress of implementation once the socio-economic objectives have been approved by the national economic council (NEC).”

Aziz said that the plan will make efforts to incorporate the sustainable development goals (SDGs) for 2030 approved by a united nations (UN) summit in September 2015.

The meeting of the steering committee was held to discuss the broad socio-economic objectives of the plan which includes sustained growth, climate change challenges, clean energy, agricultural productivity, infrastructure development and industrial revival.

The draft document will be presented before the upcoming meeting of the NEC.
