ISI DG Lt. Gen. Hamid lands in Kabul

ISLAMABAD: The inter services intelligence (ISI) director general (DG) lieutenant general (Lt. Gen.) Faiz Hamid landed in Kabul (the capital of Afghanistan), on Saturday, whereafter arriving at Serena hotel he was asked by British television channel 4 news (https://www.channel4.com) reporter on whether he is due to hold meetings with the senior leadership of Taliban to which he replied, “No, I am not clear.”

According to the 4 News video, he pointed towards the ambassador of Pakistan to Afghanistan and said, “He will be maybe able to make it.”

In another question he was asked as to what he hopes now will happen in Afghanistan to which he replied, “I have just landed and.”

The Pakistani ambassador Mansoor Ahmad Khan interrupted and said, “We are working for peace and stability in Afghanistan.”

ISI DG Lt. Gen. Hamid assured, “Don’t worry. Everything will be okay.”

Separately, Taliban (also known as the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan) spokesman M. Naeem in a tweet (https://twitter.com/IeaOffice), on Friday, informed that the deputy chief of the political office Sher Mohammad Abbas Stanikzai met with the ambassador of Pakistan and his accompanying delegation in Doha (the capital of Qatar).

During the meeting, the latest developments in the country, the future, bilateral relations and related issues, as well as the problems of the people crossing the border were discussed.

Both sides pledged to continue and expand good and positive relations.

Separately, Taliban spokesman M. Naeem in a tweet (https://twitter.com/IeaOffice), on Friday, informed that the deputy chief of the political office Stanikzai, along with his accompanying delegation, met with Simon Gass, representative of the prime minister (PM) of the United Kingdom (UK), and the accompanying delegation in Doha.

The meeting focused on humanitarian aid, security and political issues, as well as bilateral relations.

The British delegation added that they have doubled their humanitarian assistance to Afghanistan and are ready to continue cooperating with the Taliban in this regard.

The delegation of the Taliban thanked them for their humanitarian assistance.

Separately, Taliban spokesman M. Naeem in a tweet (https://twitter.com/IeaOffice), on Friday, informed that the deputy chief of the political office Stanikzai, along with his accompanying delegation, met with the special representative of Germany Marks Potzel, in Doha.

Our relations with Afghanistan will be even better than before. Afghanistan has an important role to play in the security and development of the region. China has its own views on Afghanistan.
