HR minister distributes ration to transgenders

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan bait-ul-mal (PBM) organised an event to distribute ration among transgenders, Wednesday, human rights (HR) minister Shireen Mazari said, while addressing the participants, it is our legal duty to ensure the rights of transgenders.

According to an official statement, HR minister Mazari added that the incumbent established separate wards for transgenders in Pakistan institute of medical sciences (PIMS) hospital.

She further said that HR ministry wrote letters to provinces, one and a half year ago, to establish separate wards for transgenders in public hospitals of provinces also.

She further highlighted that Aisha Mughal, a transgender who is working with HR ministry was included in the official delegation and represented the case of Pakistan effectively in the human rights council (HRC).

The ration was distributed among 500 transgenders during the event.
