Families in Punjab to receive health cards with Rs.720,000 limit

ISLAMABAD: The prime minister (PM) Imran Khan was informed, on Monday, 100 percent families of Punjab will be provided with health cards of Rs.720,000 limit per family within 12 months.

According to a press release, Punjab health minister (P-HM) Yasmeen Rashid called on PM Khan in federal capital.

By June of current financial year, 45 percent of the population of Punjab, which includes 7 districts of Sahiwal and Dera Ghazi Khan divisions, will be issued the health cards.

P-HM Rashid apprised PM Khan of the progress made in issuing health cards to 22 million families across Punjab.

The target of issuing health cards to entire Punjab will be achieved by completing the issuance of health cards in remaining districts by December 2021.

P-HM Rashid informed the PM, the health card will provide medical treatment at any government and private hospital on panel.

Welcoming the move, PM Khan said the access to affordable basic health care for every citizen is the top priority of the incumbent.

The incumbent is going to improve the system in public hospitals as well as provide affordable land to private hospitals to ensure the poor families do not miss out on treatment due to unavailability of resources in case of illness.

The special assistant to PM on national health services, regulations and coordination Faisal Sultan also attended the meeting.
