ANTALYA (Turkey): The foreign minister (FM) Shah Mahmood Qureshi in his meeting with Palestinian FM, on Friday, expressed strong concerns on the latest Israeli strikes against Gaza after the recent ceasefire.

According to a press release, the two leaders held a bilateral meeting on the sidelines of Antalya diplomacy forum in a southern Turkish port city.

Palestinian FM Maliki briefed FM Qureshi on the latest situation in the occupied Palestinian territories (OPT).

He conveyed deep appreciation on behalf of the Palestinian president and people to the FM for proactively taking up the case of Palestine at the United Nations (UN) General Assembly (UNGA) during the earlier Israeli aggression against Gaza.

FM Qureshi reiterated Pakistan’s unwavering support for the Palestinian cause and underscored the importance of two-State solution based on pre-1967 borders under the relevant UN Security Council (UNSC) resolutions for sustainable peace in the region.

Both the leaders exchanged views on rising Islamophobia and agreed on the need for evolving a joint strategy to counter discrimination against all religious faiths, particularly against Muslims.

FM Qureshi extended an invitation to Palestinian FM to visit Pakistan.

Palestinian FM Maliki accepted the invitation and responded that he looks forward to a visit in the near future.
