Dastgir receives briefing on ACE

RAWALPINDI: Defence minister Khurram Dastgir visited Mushaf airbase in Sargodha on Tuesday to review operations of the base as well as to be briefed on the newly established airpower centre of excellence (ACE).

According to an official statement, on the way to Mushaf airbase, Dastgir witnessed a training exercise on board airborne warning and control system (AWACS) aircraft where he was briefed by the chief of air staff air chief marshal Sohail Aman.

At the base, he witnessed the take off for a training exercise and inspected a joint fighter (JF)-17 aircraft. Dastgir addressed the ground crew and technicians of the JF-17 flight line. He appreciated the ground crew for their dedication and hard work, particularly during operation Zarb-e-Azb (ZeA), in which Pakistan air force (PAF) played a vital role.

ACE commandant escorted Dastgir through the facility and briefed him about the different courses and exercises. Aman informed Dastgir that ACE was built in a record time of 15 months in 2016-17 and is now a world class facility for conducting multinational exercises as well as training PAF personnel at every level.

Dastgir commended Aman for his vision of ACE and appreciated the officers and staff for integrating information technology (IT) thoroughly in ACE operations. He offered the government’s full support for its future development.
