China appreciates CPEC security arrangements

ISLAMABAD: China’s ambassador to Pakistan Nong Rong appreciated, Thursday, the security arrangements done for the Chinese people and China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) projects countrywide.

According to a press release, Chinese ambassador Rong called on the interior minister (IM) brigadier (retired) Ijaz Ahmad Shah at the interior ministry, in the federal capital.

IM Shah welcomed Chinese ambassador Rong and the two discussed bilateral ties.

Acknowledging the time tested friendship of Pakistan and China, the IM said that the two countries are like two bodies one soul and that the cooperation between the two has only strengthened over the years.

The Chinese ambassador agreed with the IM and said that the cooperation between Pakistan and China has always proven to be fruitful and very productive.

“Ensuring fool proof security for CPEC projects and overall environment is our utmost priority,” IM Shah said.

He added, “We have increased the manpower and overall strength of Frontier Constabulary and Frontier Corps to make sure that there is no problem faced in the smooth functioning of CPEC projects.”

Chinese ambassador Rong thanked the IM for cooperation in visa related affairs to which IM Shah replied that overall process of visa issuance stands streamlined and that efforts are underway to ensure that people face no hurdles.

While addressing the Covid-19 (coronavirus) situation, the IM acknowledged that not only the government but the people of Pakistan are also very thankful to the Chinese government for providing assistance during the pandemic crisis.

“China came to our help at very early stage, people of our country really appreciate it,” he said.

On discussing the vaccine, Chinese ambassador Rong informed that the human trials are underway and the Chinese government hopes that by the start of next year good things can be expected.

CPEC has become the game changer for the entire region, IM Shah said while appreciating China’s role in developmental projects countrywide.

The infrastructure and development has played a pivotal role in economic progress, he added. To which the Chinese ambassador replied that the two countries have always been successfully working in mutually beneficial projects.

The meeting concluded with the hope that the two countries will continue to work together and further strengthen the bilateral ties in days to come.
