Azerbaijan and Pakistan have identical views: Alizada

ISLAMABAD: Republic of Azerbaijan ambassador Ali Alizada called on national security adviser (NSA) lieutenant general (R) Nasser Khan Janjua on Friday, besides security and defence, multiple areas pertaining to the promotion of bilateral relations came under discussion.

According to an official statement, NSA warmly welcomed the guest and said that Pakistan attaches great importance to its relations with Azerbaijan as these relations are based on strong mutual trust and respect.

He said that since the inception of Azerbaijan, Pakistan having recognised the new State immediately supported Azerbaijan in every aspect and at every world forum.

Alizada said that Azerbaijan enjoys cordial and warm relationship with Pakistan and expressed his desire to expand the spectrum of cooperation further.

He highlighted that the two countries shared views on major regional and international issues concerning peace and security and acknowledged Pakistan’s support to Azerbaijan’s stand on the issue of Nagorno Karabakh, which is being occupied by Armenia.

Alizada said that Azerbaijan fully supports Pakistan’s stand on Kashmir, called for implementation of united nations (UN) security council resolution.

Azerbaijan is also the member of organization of Islamic cooperation (OIC) contact group on Jammu and Kashmir.

Both sides expressed satisfaction over the level and substance of growing bilateral engagements between the two countries.

The two sides discussed ways and means to further improve cooperation in defence and security.

Alizada extended invitation to NSA to preside a seminar on “crime against humanity: genocide and ethnic cleansing” scheduled to be held on February 20, 2018, in the federal capital.
